Iboga fruits and seeds,  iboga is a perennial rainforest shrub and psychedelic, native to western Central Africa. The plants stimulates the central nervous system when taken in small doses and induces hallucinations in larger doses.  Iboga fruits and seeds are less medicinal like the root which are chewed for various pharmacological or ritualistic purposes. The plant grows up to height of 2 m, and at time’s grow into a tree up to 10 m tall, given the right conditions. Its flowers are white and pink in color. The fruit can be either an elongated oval shape, or a round spherical shape, both having an orange color. Its yellow-colored roots contain a number of indole alkaloids, most notably Ibogaine. And is found in the highest concentration in the root-bark. The root material, bitter in taste, causes anesthetic sensation in the mouth as well as systemic numbness to the skin.

In indigenous classification, Tabernanthe iboga is made of two types, which are distinguished by the forms of their fruits. The male iboga fruits  with lengthened Sharpe and the female iboga fruits with globular  (or round) Sharpe. Tabernanthe Iboga fruits and seeds likes a part shade position  with rich soil and good drainage. Give regular applications of both liquid and solid fertiliser over summer. Iboga also increases neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to develop and use new neural pathways, which  allows those in recovery to develop healthy new habits, patterns of thought, and ways of life.

Findings

A Mexican study found that after a single dose of Iboga, two-thirds of the heroin addicts treated went a month without relapsing, and 4 of the study’s 30 participants were still sober one year later. Another study in Brazil experimented with giving iboga treatment and psychotherapy to 75 individuals addicted to cocaine, crack, alcohol, and cannabis. The researchers found that the “results suggest that the use of iboga supervised by a physician and accompanied by psychotherapy can facilitate prolonged periods of abstinence, without the occurrence of fatalities or complications.”
